News Flash: Neon Wetsuits!

If, like me, you're crazy on swimming, surfing and all things water-sport. OR! You love a bit of brightness and maybe a bit of lycra as well! I genuinely have one perfect and incredibly cool news flash for you today!

So I was browsing the internet and came across the very chic and trendy Neon wetsuit company. A bit of an odd find I must admit, but their site is amazing and actually FUN (yes, fun) even if you're not buying anything! Let me give you a tour...

First off, there's tonnes of different style of wetsuits, including some two piece suits, swimming costumes and then the proper wetsuits. Not only are the designs on these pieces both wonderfully simple, they're also very striking and bold. Which is exactly what you want when you're showing off your crazy water moves! 

The uses for these suits don't even have to stop at water-sports! I can see them being used in gymnastics, gym sessions and EVEN maybe a leotard number for going out of the town...let me know what you think!

These are just a few examples of how cool these items look! The very best part of this company, though, is that not only are designs fantastic, you can customise your own colours. Let me demonstrate...

So here you can choose the different colours for various sections. I think it's absolutely brilliant and a great way to bring some personality to the clothes you buy! For just £100 on average per piece, its not that bad to have something original and different. 

These suits have to be my favourites though! 

What I love about this suit is that it's just so simple but bold! Not only are the colours lovely together, its powerful to look at, and for a competitive swimmer like myself that's what I like in a swimsuit. The suit is also made in a seamless fashion, making them ridiculously comfortable!

Now these pieces are certainly the unconventional choice for a swimmer, but they look very comfortable along with a lot of room for a manoeuvring swimmer! Plus! The patterns together are just great and ever so stylish!

DIY! From Boring to Beautiful Shoes...

Hey everyone and welcome to the Urban Attic's new feature...DIY DAY! 

On the 21st of every month I'll be posting either a step-by-step guide or video on how to create your own amazing pieces!

Everyone's had those times where everything you're wearing is just frustratingly bland and basic. But more difficult than most to jazz up are your shoes!

Well Musers, you needn't worry your little toes because with our tips on how to create one funky pair of shoes that no one else will have, you'll never again return to your boring days!

Here's how to turn a pair of bland shoes, into a bonkers pair of cat face pumps...

Tick List:

- A pair of shoes (with a round enough toe for some drawing).

- Tape

- Black & white paint

- Sponge brush & small brush

5 Easy Steps:

1. place a piece of tape over the toe for the cat's face.

2. paint over the toe of the shoe with black paint.

3. Peel off the tape when dry and, with a small brush, paint small triangular ears on the edge of the black toe.

4. With the wrong end of the small brush, dip it into some white paint and dot on some white eyes.

5. Lastly with your small brush paint on a nose, mouth and whiskers.

Footwear extravaganza no.2...

Turn an old and plain pair or canvas shoes into a walking masterpiece!

Tick List:

- A pair of canvas shoes.

- Some white and yellow fabric paint (or whatever colours you prefer).

- A fine paint brush.

- A pencil.

2 Easy Steps: 

1. Draw on in pencil whatever design you want on your shoes.

2. Using your different paints, paint over your design carefully.

TOP TIP: for straight edges, use some masking tape to stop your design looking messy!

5 Ways To Jazz Up Your Wellies...

Have your wellies taken a bit of a beating this festival season? Panic not Musers, this autumn jazz up your old and battered wellies to make some funky pairs that no one else will have!

Here are five different ways you can wow your friends with awesome boots...

1. Grab a marker pen, a ruler or masking tape and try drawing on some jazzy shapes and drawings. Stay near the top of your wellies though so your efforts don't get rubbed off in the mud!

2. With some gems or ribbon, experiment a bit by wrapping the ribbon around your boot and shine it up with some pretty gems here and there...(don't forget to stick them on with glue when you're done!!)

3.  Have a fabric frenzy and make some cute liners for your wellies OR even make some fabric flowers and glue them onto your boots!

4. Spray paint! Yes, we love spray paint here, so maybe get some glamourous gold or a daring red and style up your old plain wellies with a funky design or even change the colour completely! TOP TIP: Get spray paint for plastic so that it doesn't flake off when you're out and about.

5. You'll never guess this one...Nail varnish! Yep, if you have any old nail varnish you don't use or don't want, then grab a pencil, draw some patterns and carefully paint over them with your nail varnish! Great or what!?

Throw Away Fashion

In our modern society it is sad to say that we do have a 'throw-away' culture; that, stubbornly, we cannot shift. We gain a thrill from purchasing something new, showing off by wearing it out or clinging onto that deluding 'new car' smell. However, one day, that piece of clothing that we would've fought for in a sale or begged for at christmas will inevitably become something that is 'unfashionable', a fashion faux pas, something you 'wouldn't be seen dead in'. But why throw it away? Who says that we even have to? It's a perfectly good piece of fabric, maybe made well and is in impeccable condition. So how do we know exactly when Fashion passes its expiry date or even if it ever does?

Design teams in all brands design to a schedule. Spacing their collections from every 2 weeks to 2 years, essentially they do have the power to control what our tastes are and what our wardrobes look like. But that still does not explain why we seem to feel a piece of clothing is 'unfashionable'. In my opinion fashion never becomes undesirable completely, perhaps the general public thinks so, but not me. I tend to wear my clothes until they are almost worn out, but when I stop wearing something completely I try my hardest to keep it. As many of you I'm sure have noticed, the different fashion eras repeat themselves continuously, regurgitating various styles which we have all had in our wardrobe at some stage, or maybe our parents. If you can help it, keep the old clothes you have and even customise them if you want. Its not even just an environmental ploy but a style one too. I'll follow this post up with some customisations of my own just to prove how you can save money and your dustbin.
